Potassium Fertilizers

The major source of potassium is potash which is processed from potassium bearing ores like sylvanite.
Potassium from potash is referred to as the regulator in crop production influencing over 60 enzyme systems which control crop quality. Potassium fertilizers enable plants grow strong stalks and resist stress such as weeds, diseases and changes in the temperature.

Potassium helps to promote root growth and the uptake of nitrogen which promote higher yields, improve the quality and taste of fruits and vegetables, enhance water retention, and increases disease resistance. Adequate potassium nutrition is essential for healthy growth, for the plant’s strength and for excellent yield quality.

Muriate of Potash, MOP (KCI)

Potassium chloride is mostly referred to by its common name of muriate of potash is a white or red, crystal containing 60% K2O.

MOP can be applied at sowing, before or after sowing; is completely soluble in water and therefore readily available to the crops. It is not lost from the soil, as it is absorbed on the colloidal surfaces.

Sulphate of Potash, SOP (K₂SO₄)

Potassium sulphate or sulphate of potash is a white salt and contains 48% K2O. Just like MOP, Sulphate of Potash is soluble in water and therefore readily available to the crop. SOP is preferred for fertilization of crops like tobacco, potato among others, where quality is of prime importance.

Demand for potash is expected to rise due to increased population and standard of living and worldwide. Berium Group is in the best position to help partners and clients for potash to meet the evolving needs and challenges.
