More about Nickel Ore
Nickel exists in nature as oxides, sulphides and silicates. About 90% of nickel produced annually goes into alloys, two thirds (about 65%) going into stainless steel; 20% is used to produce other steel and non-ferrous alloys- often for very specialized applications in mining and mineral processing, aerospace, military installations etc. Other important uses of nickel – about 15% of annual production are used in plating, electronics, and rechargeable batteries.
Average life of nickel-containing products is around 25-35 years, with many applications lasting much longer.
